This course will support you to develop the project management knowledge, skills and behaviours that lead to effective project delivery in addition to building your understanding of the tools and techniques that support efficient and productive operational performance.
The content for this course is split into 12 sections in order to provide a thorough overview of project management in addition to aligning to the Association for Project Management’s Body of Knowledge.

This third element considers the options available when developing project lifecycles. This acknowledges the importance of understanding the lifecycle that projects go through and how these can be utilised to plan project delivery.
4) Establishing Project Governance
The fourth stage of the course considers principles of project governance, sustainable practices in projects and developing business cases for projects
5) Shaping the Project
Building from the previous elements, this part of the course considers the shaping of portfolios, programmes and projects and the operational adjustments needed to contribute to project success.
6) Assurance, Quality and Knowledge Management
This aspect of the course investigates the structure around decision gates (project progress decision making), information management in projects and the quality assurance processes.
7) Engaging Stakeholders

8) Leading Project Teams
This part of the course will establish processes and understanding around leading and developing co-located and virtual teams, the role of the project team leader and leadership styles, organisational culture, diversity and inclusion in projects and managing workplace stress.
9) Working Professionally in Projects
This element of the course considers the crucial aspects of communicating and negotiating effectively, managing time, the regulatory environment in which projects operate in addition to project ethics and maximising continual professional development (CPD) through projects.
10) Integrated Project Planning (Risk, Scheduling, Resource and Costs)
This element considers the options and process relating to risk identification, analysis and mitigation planning, project scheduling, optimising resources, costs planning and contingency planning.
11) Monitoring and Controlling Projects
This element considers the management of project once in delivery and will investigate the processes for monitoring and reporting including risk, contingency and issues management in addition to managing change in projects.
12) Transitioning into Use
The final element of the course considers the issues associated with project completion including project handover/business readiness, unplanned project endings and project closure.
Through the delivery of this course, participants will secure knowledge of the theory behind effective project management in addition to experience of applying and testing the tools used in project delivery. This latter element is designed to be undertaken in a critically reflective way to ensure that there is a clear understanding of why tools and models are used and how these can be adapted to suit the specific needs of the project to be delivered.
Delivery and Assessment
During delivery of the course, participants will work in small teams to apply the tools taught to a given project in order to build the knowledge and skills required to propose and initiate a project. This will be accompanied by a clear understanding of how projects should be delivered and managed once underway. The assessment will build from the group work whereby participants will undertake an individual assessment, based on the skills they have developed in the group work, by applying the tools and their knowledge acquired to a project of their choosing.
